Celebrating 35 Years -A Legacy of Sisterhood, Service, and Black Excellence
The Suffolk County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. celebrates 35 years of Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service and Social Action. With hearts brimming with pride and purpose, 229 esteemed guests joined in commemorating a legacy of sisterhood, service, scholarship, and black excellence.
Our chapter was honored to celebrate five of our 27 charter members: Fannie Dawson, Velma Dove, Vera Farquharson, Nancy Matthews, and Shirley Singletary-Hudson. As guests danced the night away to the sounds of the Knapper Time Band and mingled and exchanged warm embraces, there was an electric energy in the air—an undeniable sense of camaraderie and shared purpose that bound us together as one.
Take a look at our 35th Anniversary Gala Journal https://bit.ly/SCAC35thGalaJournal , and enjoy the video, a recap of our memorable moments from insightful words from our International President and Chair of the National Board of Directors: Elsie Cooke-Holmes, and our Eastern Regional Director: Rosie Allen Herring. We were deeply honored to receive proclamations from five towns within Suffolk County, the County Executive,as well as heartfelt commendations from Senator Monica Martinez and NY Secretary of State Anthony Robert Rodriguez, underscoring the profound impact of our collective efforts. The event was not only a celebration of our chapter’s rich history but also a testament to our unwavering commitment to uplifting our community.
The Committee Chairs, Jessica Autry and Diana Jernigan-Breedy and the Committee worked tirelessly to make sure our 35th Anniversary Gala was a success. It was a night filled with love, and laughter; creating more memories that will last a lifetime. Cheers to 35 years of excellence and many more to come! #35YearsStrong #dstscac1989 #dst1913 #elevatingthecommunity
